Event Description:
Tarrant County Veterans Council = = = = = = = = = NEWS RELEASE Oct. 5, 2017 = = = = = = = = = TARRANT COUNTY VETERANS DAY PARADE = = = = = = = = = FORT WORTH – “Join the Veterans Day celebration through downtown Fort Worth,” local parade organizers are saying. “This year we honor Vietnam-era military mail carriers while saluting all service members – past and present.” WHAT? 2017 Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade WHEN? Saturday, Nov. 11, with step-off about 11 a.m. WHERE? Parade participants will march down Main Street from the Tarrant County Courthouse through Sundance Square to 5th Street and return on Houston Street. WHO? Veterans, military groups, Fort Worth first responders, Junior ROTC units, bands, veteran support groups and many more will march. The parade is organized by the Tarrant County Veterans Council. TCVC is also a partner in the national Vietnam War Commemoration. WHY? To honor all of America’s military veterans, as well as the countless Vietnam-era mail carriers who delivered words of hope across Southeast Asia. This year’s theme “Remembering the Vietnam War… Letters from Home” only reinforces that sacrifice. “Veterans Day should celebrate the service of Americans who donned a uniform,” note parade planners. “It’s a day to say, ‘Thank you for your service!’ And a time when veterans can say, ‘Thank you for your support.’” “Will you consider joining the festivities?” organizers are asking. “If you’re not available, please help us spread the word. Hope y’all can join our Cowtown salute on Veterans Day!” Detailed information about the parade is available online at http://tarrantcountyveterans.org. # # # Contact: Bruce E.
